DonnaKatya a.k.a. Katya Scarpulla, has Istrian roots and was born to Sicilian/Trentino parents in Veneto, Italy amongst the oil stains, protest marches, household furs and half smoked cigarettes of the 1970s. Her family was eclectic (“my earliest childhood memory is of our living room walls being painted black “) and Katya was lucky enough to travel as well as be exposed to music at a young age, and has vivid memories of the vinyl crackle of Bernstein and Lloyd Webber musicals. She attended Art School, the usual refuge for misfits with something to say, and graduated in Architecture, although it isn’t a vocation she’s likely to pursue.
By the time she was an adolescent she’d already been bitten by the music bug. The bedroom mirror no longer satisfied the teenage fantasy of performing and singing and she would be her older brother’s shadow at many a band rehearsal or hardcore gig until, at the age of twenty, she finally had it in her to pick up a microphone herself. From her early learning period with Matsukao, to the musical maturity of Chinasky and now, along with some of the most talented musicians of the Veneto region, Katya steps up to the plate with her latest project DonnaKatya & The SuperFeed.

DONNAKATYA AND THE SUPERFEED
POETRY IS NOT GOOD TO EAT
“When I can’t sleep I dream up songs” Is it possible for one to imagine distant universes and put together paranormal microcosms between the four walls of domesticity? DonnaKatya thinks so. The ten songs that make up “Poetry Is Not Good to Eat” have their roots in a melody recorded on a cell phone, took shape on an out of tune guitar and became beautiful butterflies in the hands and sensitivity of SuperFeed and Marco Pagot.
